Prospect Lane Farm, owned and operated by Tré and Emily Lee, was opened in 2005 in Versailles, Kentucky. The history of Prospect Lane Farm, however, goes back much further to the younger years of Tré and Emily, who met when Emily’s parents decided to place their first half-Saddlebred in training with Tré and his dad Clem in Virginia. With prior experience jumping, this was Emily’s first experience with showing American Saddlebreds. She quickly developed a passion for American Saddlebreds and she and Tré began their successful show record together. The couple married in 2002 and soon after, Tré began working for John T. Jones at Rosemont Manor Farm. In 2005 they decided to open Prospect Lane, with John as a partner. In 2007, John entered into semi-retirement and Tré and Emily became the sole owners of Prospect Lane.
Starting in 2003, with his first World Championship win with Marching Orders in the Two Year Old Three Gaited class, Tré has continued to make his mark specializing in starting young horses and successfully introducing them to the show ring. In partnership with Johnny, Tré has had success training WC According To Lynn, RWC Coco Loco, WC Coco Royal, WC Cherished King, WC Lovin Lass, RWC Hola Buenos Heiress, RWC Callaway’s Connotation, WGC Callway’s Copyright, WC Lynn Williams, WC Paranormal, WC A Silver Charm, WC (SA) The Star Walker, WCC Boston Legal, and RWC Just Heavenly. Since being on their own, Tré and Emily have trained WC Call Me Regal, WC The Next Big Star, WCC Manhattan’s Irish Cream, WC A Night In Vegas, WC Another Lynn, RWC The King’s Redemption, WC MBA’s Revival Of The Blues, WC Blue Train, WC You Can Kall Me Lucky, RWC Stonecroft Priceless, and WC and RWGC HS Daydreams Heads Up.
With such a talent for starting young horses, it is only logical that Prospect Lane Farm also maintains focus on their own breeding program. They currently have 12 broodmares in their operation. Among the horses they have raised, Vegas Moon, a Two Year Old Gaited filly, will be making her debut on the green shavings. She will not be alone in being a Louisville first-timer, with 17 horses being shown under the Prospect Lane banner. Baby I’m Nuts (Park Pleasure/Three Year Old), Top Of The Mark (Five Gaited/Junior Stallion), We Must Be Really Nuts (Three Gaited/Two Year Old), and Mountjoy’s Extra Nice (Five Gaited/Three Year Old) are just a few of the young stars that Tré is looking forward to putting their hard work and training into action. Emily has found her own niche in the Fine Harness Division, winning her first World Championship in 2012 with We Must Be Nuts, in the Two Year Old Fine Harness Futurity. This year she will be returning to Freedom Hall with My Pistol Annie in the Junior Fine Harness Division.
The Lees are thankful for their loyal and gracious customers. They are continually honored to train their horses and appreciate the support these owners have given them. Emily also recognizes that Prospect Lane Farm would not be able to accomplish their goals without their great support system. She credits much of the behind the scenes work to José Guido, who has been instrumental in teaching the basics to and caring for the young horses. Juan Garcia is also plays a critical role in the success of Prospect Lane, and has been a member of the team since their days at Rosemont Manor. Emily and Tré are also grateful for the help and support they receive from both sets of their parents, especially when it comes to helping care for their young son Chase while at horse shows!
Feeling blessed to work as a husband and wife team, Emily and Tré often encourage each other through the ups and downs. Emily enjoys supporting Tré as a ground person and the couple capitalizes on their personal relationship, allowing them to have the ability to know each other’s style and preferences. While at the end of the day they may spend time rehashing the day’s events, the Lees focus on keeping their family values a core part of their lives, with their non-horse time being spent watching their son play T-Ball and Basketball, vacationing to Disney and staying involved in their church. While they share a passion for their work, and “eat, breathe, and sleep” this business they leave their work at the barn and come home to family time.
Onto their next chapter, Louisville 2014. Emily and Tré are looking forward to getting settled in and enjoying the excitement of the week.
